Baby pink doesn’t have to be cliché. It’s possible to use the color in your baby girl’s room and do it tastefully. In this design all the walls are painted in a very light baby pink and a deeper shade of pink is used to add color to the space with a chair. Gray and white furniture help to enhance the modern feel of the space. More color is introduced with a piece of art over the baby’s crib done in various shades of pink. The black and white geometry print of the floor rug and the patterned cushion and bedding also help to create a modern space that is not ‘too pink’ despite having pink walls.

Keep the Walls White

White may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you’re brainstorming color options for baby girl nursery ideas but it should not be discounted. The advantage of painting your baby’s space white is that it gives you the freedom to change your color scheme as often as you wish by simply changing out bedding, cushions, and accessories. In this nursery color is added to the space with the baby’s bedding, wall art, cushions, toys and a large floor rug in a geometric print. The color choices are all bright and cheery, working well together to create a cohesive design.

Try Patterned Pink

Add a little interest to your baby’s room by using a pink pattern instead of a solid pink. This design uses a polka dot print in a very light pink and white on all the walls between the chair rails. This is then contrasted with white above the upper chair rail and below the lower one which creates some balance in the space. A similar shade of pink in a tiny checkered print is used on the chair and on the cushions. Two other shades of pink are used for the floor cushions next to the crib.

Combine Different Shades of Pink

Pink doesn’t have to mean baby pink for it to work in a nursery. As this design shows, combining different shades of pink can also work very effectively. For the windows hot pink panels are paired with a patterned window shade consisting of a lighter pink, brown and white. Different light shades of pink are also used in the baby’s blanket, bedding and the fluffy floor rug which adds texture. A white crib, gray rocking chair and gray ottoman bring in some neutrality to the space which could otherwise look overdone with that much pink.

Try Pink and Gray

Gray work wonderfully with most colors and pink is no exception to this rule. While some parents may shy away from gray out of fear that it may cause the space to look too mature, pink is the perfect match to add youthfulness and whimsy to the space. In this nursery the walls are painted a strong gray with white ceiling, curtains, bedding and furniture that all help to lighten the space. The room itself is pretty open and airy which accounts for why the gray works so well. Pink is introduced in playful elements like toddler’s chair, a mannequin in a pink tutu and hanging ornaments. The child can continue to use this room as she gets older without the need to repaint as a new color scheme can be added with furniture, bedding and accents as is done here.
